VISIT KEYRING CREATOR HERE see how easy it is to make your own promotional keyrings
What is a promotional keyring business? Quite simply
it's a small business that produces the artwork via your
PC for the keyrings that you will sell/use, and then simply
print them, cut them out and assemble them. The blank
plastic keyring is already made you, simply click the
plastic cover over the insert you have produced after
folding and inserting. Even the metal rings are already
attached. Make the keyrings for use in your own business,
Fund Raising or sell them completed to others, it's up
to you
START UP PROGRAMME
As we said earlier a promotional keyrings business is
actually a very simple business to operate from your own
home. How many people do you know who have given you a
business card? If you are like me it could be hundreds.
Then I am sure you will agree that they can get lost or
destroyed and you end up looking for that all-important
contact you have made recently. Keyrings don't get lost
at least, not if they are on that persons keybunch, they
might lose their keys but the keyring normally stays with
it.
The customers you may be selling to will appreciate this.
Running your promotional keyrings business from home
is without doubt a profitable business, the profits are
nearly always 100%, Mainly due to the fact that you are
designing, printing, and assembling the blank plastic
keyrings yourself, the actual money that you can make
from this business is only limited by you. You can earn
as much or as little as you require depending on the amount
of effort you be prepared to put into the venture.
In practical terms you can expect to earn around £2,000
+per year if making them for others, not bad for simple
part-time work (YOU may earn much more.) and if you make
your own blank plastic keyrings for use in your business
you will be saving hundreds of pounds, and promoting your own business It's entirely up to you
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A HOME COMPUTER
You will obviously need a home computer, preferably a
Pentium 233mhz or above with 32mb of ram and a hard drive
of 1GB or higher, a monitor of 15 inches or above. Most
systems sold these days perform very well producing artwork
and are well above this specification.
A PRINTER
Ideally a colour inkjet printer is required, I started
a couple of years ago with a HP710c and this printer performed
very well for this type of use. Mine was purchased new
at the time so that if anything went wrong at least I
would have a one year guarantee which gave me a feeling
of support, should the worst happen. The other reason
I chose the HP 710c was the size of the inkjet cartridges,
as we all know inkjet cartridges can be expensive. The
HP 710c could take a cartridge with up to 42ml of ink
which was extremely economical in use , I had a 15ml colour
cartridge which produced for me over 2,800 plus individual
colour font keyring Inserts, that equates to around £0.007p
per keyring insert. Not even a penny each! economical
and for a long time proved to be very reliable. Any printer
can do the job, it's down to quality and cost. You will
need to check how your own cartridges perform, you could
even consider refilling your own cartridges with the many
refill packs that are on sale today.
A PAPER TRIMMER, PAPER CUTTER, OR GUILLOTINE
You will need to purchase a paper trimmer (cutter). These
are not expensive to buy, I still use a Dahle 12 inch
paper trimmer with a sturdy roller blade. I cut three
sheets of UK A4 paper 80gsm at once which reduces the
cutting time. It is very sharp and efficient. Should blades
be required they are available at around £2.50each.
You will need to change your blade, depending on the amount
of blank plastic keyrings you are producing, but I have
found most blades last about 1 year. You may find yours
last longer. Other types of cutter are available; you
would need to check locally in your area. One source of
availability is Viking Direct. Any telephone directory
will contain a list of office suppliers who would be pleased
to assist you.
A SCANNER (OPTIONAL)
Although you do not need a scanner to operate the promotional
keyrings business, you may find that a customer requires
the use of their own logo or artwork, that he or she has
already produced, to be included in their keyring design.
This is where a scanner can be needed. My first scanner
was a Trust , it was only a basic scanner but coped very
well and did everything I required from it at that time.
I normally only needed to scan at 300dpi I would advise
if you do not already own a scanner to get one; many are
available and they are very cheap now from £29.99.
You may even find one cheaper; they can be obtained from
most computer shops and computer warehouses
DESKTOP PUBLISHING PACKAGE
I used Publisher 98 at the time of writing this, which
I have found to be excellent for producing all types of
home publishing, it also has an extensive list of label
formats to choose from. All of the blank plastic keyring
inserts you will make are produced using a label template.
To give you an example the most common keyring size in
the United Kingdom is 35mm x 24mm and as this size of
label template is not available you can simply create your
own size of template within your desktop publishing package.
Desktop publishing or DTP is exactly what it says~Publishing
from a desktop.
You do not need a studio, newsroom or a compositing room
where the work of all these people is pasted together
to make a newspaper, magazine or brochure. All you need
is your PC. Most desktop packages contain all the tools
required for lines, geometric shapes, etc, and come with
thousands of pieces of clipart. You can add images directly
from your scanner and digital camera straight to your
PC and straight into the document you are working on,
in this case a label template for blank plastic Keyrings.
Most of the desktop publishing packages come with help
files and wizards. It only takes time and a little practice
and soon, you too will be producing great Keyring inserts,
simply use the same method for producing coasters and
fridge magnets they are ideal for use in your own business or other ideas that you may have.
GOOD LUCK
